December to March is also humpback whale season off the Nayarit coast. Each year these giants migrate over 10,000 kilometers from cold northern waters to mate in Banderas Bay, and it's common to spot them breaching even from the beach. September is, plainly, the rainiest month of the year and carries the highest storm probability. If steady weather is your top priority, you'll likely want to shift your trip to another month — though it's also when you'll find the lowest rates.
October starts to ease up on the rain. The hills stay green, the water is warm, and there are very few visitors — one of the lesser-known seasons and, for many repeat travelers, one of the most pleasant times to visit Bucerías.

If you're traveling in dry season, light clothing, sunscreen, and something light for cool evenings will do.
